St Paul's Cathedral Kolkata

St Paul’s Cathedral offers a short, quiet architectural visit beside Kolkata’s Maidan cultural attractions. Look at the tall Gothic forms, windows and interior proportions, while remembering that this remains an active cathedral. Its own visitor hours differ from worship times: sightseeing begins at 10 am Monday–Saturday and noon on Sunday.

Indian Museum Kolkata

Indian Museum brings archaeology, ancient Egypt, natural history and art into one substantial Kolkata visit. Choose three or four open galleries around the child’s interests rather than attempting the entire collection. The Egyptian mummy and Bharhut stone carvings offer very different experiences; current notices also matter, because Long Archaeology has been closed since July 2026 despite an older general list calling it open.

Jus Jumpin Axis Mall New Town

Jus Jumpin at Axis Mall is a children’s indoor play venue with a mix of climbing, slides, pretend play and smaller jumping activities. Its doll house and sand-play area offer quieter alternatives to the obstacle route. This is the fourth-floor Axis Mall branch, not the larger adult-oriented trampoline park at ABC Square.

Alipore Museum Independence Heritage

Alipore Museum turns a former prison into a place to learn about India’s independence movement, especially Bengal’s role. Families encounter cells, personal histories and exhibitions rather than a conventional amusement attraction. The prison and execution themes need age-sensitive explanation. Museum entry, the evening light-and-sound show and parking are separate charges.

Howrah: Botanical Garden & Belur Math

Belur Math

Belur Math combines an active place of worship with architecture and a museum connected to Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda. For families, the most rewarding visit is usually a quiet look at the main temple followed by one clearly chosen addition, such as the museum or a short permitted walk. The campus is not a picnic park, and its evening opening does not mean unrestricted sightseeing until closing. Plan around the midday closure, the museum’s separate hours and the child’s ability to remain calm in a prayer space.

Rabindra Tirtha New Town

Rabindra Tirtha offers a focused introduction to Rabindranath Tagore through photographs, paintings and the history of his songs, within a modern New Town cultural campus. It is particularly useful for families wanting a quieter, inexpensive cultural stop rather than another play session. The permanent displays are the dependable starting point; concerts, films and workshops depend on the programme. A short visit works even for children who cannot yet read long labels, provided an adult helps them look closely and follows their interest.

Birla Planetarium Kolkata

Birla Planetarium is a seated dome-show outing about the sky, not a building full of hands-on science exhibits. Choose a language your child understands, arrive before the show and allow time to settle in the darkened auditorium. Its central location makes a short cathedral or garden visit possible afterwards, but the show itself should set the day’s timetable.

Victoria Memorial Hall and Gardens

Victoria Memorial combines a monumental white building and formal gardens with paintings, objects and multimedia accounts of India’s past. Choose a garden visit or a selective museum route rather than treating the whole campus as one compulsory circuit. Gallery access and temporary exhibitions can change; choose from the route confirmed by the museum on the day.

Jus Jumpin City Centre 2 New Town

Jus Jumpin in City Centre 2 offers a children’s play circuit of tunnels, slides, climbing and jumping inside the Rajarhat mall. Its obstacle-style Military Training Pathway gives confident children a route to repeat, while lower play areas can suit a gentler session. Keep it distinct from Simbaa in the same mall and from the adult-oriented ABC Square branch.

Jus Jumpin Trampoline Park ABC Square New Town

ABC Square is the Jus Jumpin branch designed for adults as well as children, with an energetic trampoline-and-obstacle arena and a separate younger-child zone. It suits a family that wants to participate together more than a quick mall soft-play stop. Decide who will actually jump, which zone each child may use and how long the group wants to stay before buying.

Science City Kolkata

Science City is a large campus where hands-on experiments, an evolution ride, a space film and outdoor exploration compete for your time. Start with the kind of experience your child enjoys, then choose one or two paid extras. A general entry ticket is not an unlimited attractions pass. The live booking system provides clearer current prices than several older online rate lists.

Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden Howrah

The AJC Bose Indian Botanic Garden in Shibpur is a large living plant collection whose most memorable family encounter is the Great Banyan: a single tree that can look like a small woodland. Choose a selective walk rather than trying to cover the entire garden. Comparing roots, leaf shapes and different kinds of trees can make this a genuinely engaging outdoor visit for children. It is also a conservation and research landscape with restrictions on games, plant damage and disposable plastics, so it should not be sold as an unrestricted picnic or playground.

Nazrul Tirtha New Town

Nazrul Tirtha combines a small museum about Kazi Nazrul Islam with cinemas, a library and a digital archive in New Town. A family can make a short, inexpensive exhibition visit, or build a longer afternoon around a suitable film. The strongest experience is for children beginning to connect a writer’s photographs, handwriting and music with a real life; this is not an interactive science museum or a soft-play venue. Choose the museum, library or cinema deliberately because their access arrangements are separate.

National Library Kolkata & Museum of Word

A family visit to the National Library campus now has a specific museum option: the Museum of Word in Belvedere House, inaugurated in July 2026. It explores language, scripts, sound and expression through exhibits and interactives. Museum admission is separate from access to the working library and reading rooms; a sightseeing visit does not provide unrestricted access to books, archives or every campus building.
