Privacy policy

Effective 22 October 2026 · Last updated 22 October 2026

This policy explains how Unipolar Technologies Pvt Ltd (“Peekago”, “we”, “us”) handles personal data when you read our guides, sign up for a weekend plan, list a venue or event, or report a correction on peekago.com. We have written it to follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and the rules made under it, and it includes additional information for visitors from the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom.

In short: you can use Peekago without an account and without telling us who you are. We collect only what we need to send you a weekend plan or to review a submission, we never collect children's names, birthdays or photos, we never sell your data, and you can ask us to see, correct or delete it at any time.

Who we are

Peekago is a brand and website operated by Unipolar Technologies Pvt Ltd, a private limited company based in New Delhi, India. For the purposes of the DPDP Act, Unipolar Technologies Pvt Ltd is the data fiduciary — the organisation that decides why and how your personal data is processed. For EEA/UK visitors, we are the controller.

General questions: hello@peekago.com. Privacy requests and complaints: grievances@peekago.com (see Contact and Grievance Officer).

What we collect

Information you give us

Information collected automatically

Information that stays on your device

Saved places, your compare list, trip plans and recent searches are stored in your own browser's local storage. They are not sent to us, we cannot see them, and clearing your browser's site data removes them.

Why we use it

We do not sell personal data. We do not take payments, and we do not show advertising. We do not send marketing messages unless you have signed up to receive them.

Under the DPDP Act we process personal data either:

Withdrawing consent: you can unsubscribe from the weekend plan (or its waitlist) at any time using the link or instruction in any message, or by writing to grievances@peekago.com. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent. It does not affect processing already carried out.

Children

Peekago is written for parents and carers. It is not directed at children, and we do not collect personal data from or about children. When you sign up for a weekend plan you may choose your children's age bands only — never their names, birthdays, photos, schools or any other detail that could identify a child. Age bands are optional, are provided by you as the parent or carer, and are used only to choose suitable suggestions. We do not track children, build profiles of them or use their data for advertising.

Forms on Peekago are meant to be completed by adults (18 or over). Following the principle of verifiable parental consent in the DPDP Act, if you believe a child has sent us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Who we share data with

We share personal data only as needed for the purposes above, with:

Embedded and linked services: place pages may show or link to Google Maps for directions, and photos hosted on Wikimedia Commons. When your browser loads a map or photo from these services, or you follow a link to them, they receive technical data such as your IP address under their own privacy policies.

Cross-border transfers

Some of our service providers (for example Microsoft, Google and Meta) may process data on servers outside India, including in the United States and the European Union. We transfer data only to countries not restricted by the Government of India under the DPDP Act, and we rely on the providers' contractual commitments and security measures. For EEA/UK data, transfers rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses (and the UK addendum) as applicable.

Cookies and local storage

Full details, including a table of every cookie and storage item, are in our cookie policy. In summary:

How long we keep data

Security and breach notification

We use reasonable security safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls that restrict the management console and personal data to authorised staff, signed and expiring sign-in sessions, and contractual safeguards with our processors. No system is perfectly secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information that we have not asked for.

If a personal data breach occurs, we will act promptly to contain it and will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected individuals as required by the DPDP Act and its rules, and CERT-In where applicable. EEA/UK visitors will be notified in line with the GDPR where it applies.

Your rights

As a data principal under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:

To use any of these rights, email grievances@peekago.com from the email address or phone number you used with us (or tell us how to verify you). We may ask for reasonable proof of identity before acting. We do not charge for requests.

Visitors from the EEA and UK

If you are in the EEA or the UK, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR may also apply. Our lawful bases are:

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection (including to direct marketing), data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection supervisory authority (for example your national authority in the EEA, or the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK), although we would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or the law change — for example when we add accounts for parents, analytics or new features. We will post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, tell subscribers by message or a notice on the site where appropriate.
