The feel of the place

Why take the kids here?

Shivsrushti in Ambegaon Budruk introduces Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s history through recreated settings, fort models and multimedia presentations. This is a substantial timed visit, not a quick monument stop or a ride park. The current booking instructions ask families to allow about four hours. Choose a session, check the narration language and prepare children for a mixture of listening, looking and walking between presentations.

Which ages it suits

Most rewarding for children comfortable with historical narration and a multi-hour programme. Ask about sound, darkness, movement and exit options for sensitive or very young children.

How to plan a family session at Shivsrushti Pune

  1. Check the date, narration language and operating attractions before booking online.
  2. Bring student IDs where applicable and arrive at least ten minutes before the slot.
  3. Follow the programme, using fort models and a few stories to keep the visit understandable.
  4. Allow the stated four-hour tour, a planned refreshment break and an unhurried return.
From the parent perspective

Shivsrushti with children: prepare for a long historical programme

The best fit depends on attention span, language and comfort with theatrical effects as much as interest in history.

Confirm the child can follow the story

Ask about narration in the booked session. Pictures can help, but a long show in an unfamiliar language may lose a younger listener quickly.

Protect the four-hour window

Give the visit its own half-day and arrange the meal and return journey around it. A rushed arrival can affect the booked entry slot.

Explain replicas and dramatic scenes

Tell children they will see recreated settings and representations of history. Prepare sensitive children for battle themes and ask staff about quieter alternatives.

Fort models help children understand Shivaji Maharaj’s landscape

Durga Vaibhav uses models and narration to introduce forts and their strategic setting. Before arriving, explain that the museum recreates and interprets places rather than being one of the original forts. Encourage children to notice high ground, gateways and water storage, then ask why those features mattered. This gives visual details a purpose without expecting prior knowledge of every battle or fort name.

Multimedia shows need a language and sensory check

The advertised programme includes the Revolving Show, the Great Escape presentation and a Raigad 4D experience. Confirm which are running in the booked session and what physical movement, darkness or loud sound they involve. The public FAQ lists Marathi and Hindi explanations and English in electronic form; that is not a promise that every live show is delivered in every language. Ask before buying if English narration is essential.

Shivsrushti tickets: the service fee changes the family total

The live 25 October 2026 9:30 am booking showed ₹200 plus ₹5 service fee for an adult ticket, and ₹100 plus ₹2.50 for an eligible school student. GST was marked included. Two adults and two qualifying students therefore total ₹615; four ordinary paying tickets total ₹820. These are dated booking calculations, not a permanent price promise. Bring valid student identification and recheck your selected slot.

Book online and arrive before the selected Shivsrushti slot

The official calendar states that tickets are not sold at the venue. Select the intended date and session before travelling; do not rely on arriving at the gate and joining any tour. Instructions ask for arrival at least ten minutes early and warn that late arrivals may not be accommodated. The event label’s five-minute time range is an entry slot, while the actual tour instruction is approximately four hours.

Do not plan the visit around a single published closing time

The home FAQ and Visit Us page show different weekday and weekend hours, while the live calendar offers specific sessions. Treat the booked start and confirmed programme finish as the practical schedule. A 5 pm Sunday slot does not mean every family should arrive unbooked at 5 pm. If a late session is your only option, confirm which shows it includes and when children will actually be ready to leave.

Separate operating Shivsrushti exhibits from planned additions

Ganga Sagar, Bhavani Mata Smarak and the Gallery of Coronation appear in promotional content as well as an upcoming-attractions section. This guide does not turn that mixed presentation into a guarantee that each is open. Ask the venue for the current tour route, especially if one named feature is the reason for your visit. The existing historical presentations can still justify an outing without promising every future phase.

Plan food, belongings and accessibility before a four-hour tour

The operator lists requested wheelchairs, a feeding room, lockers and a cafeteria serving light snacks. Ask about availability and where breaks fit within the tour. Booking instructions prohibit outside food and beverages; contact the venue about infant or medical needs before arriving. Mobile photography is allowed, while professional cameras are excluded. A listed wheelchair does not establish step-free access to every show seat or recreated setting.
