Borivali is the main planning base for Sanjay Gandhi National Park and
Kanheri, which together can fill a substantial family day. Distinguish entry
to the park from onward transport and cave access; the same ticket or
timetable should not be assumed for all activities.

GETTING AROUND
Navigate to the official park entrance and check the current onward
arrangements to Kanheri before travel. A rail or taxi arrival at Borivali is
only the first part of a cave day.

IF IT RAINS
Follow park and cave closures. Wet steps and trails can change the suitability
of a route; do not treat monsoon scenery as proof that every path is safe.

SANJAY GANDHI NATIONAL PARK
Sanjay Gandhi National Park main visitor entrance, Borivali East, Mumbai
Hours: Government tourism guidance publishes 7am–6:30pm, closed Monday; park
activity notices give separate hours and a 1:30–2:30pm lunch closure. Plan an
approximately 8am arrival, confirm gate cutoffs and choose Tuesday–Sunday for
activities. Early walking-pass access is separate.
Price: Allow about ₹110–135 per adult for park entry; child entry was reported
at ₹61 in February 2026. Safari, bicycle hire, boating, train, internal

Ages: Ages 3+
Tip: At the gate, check the activity you came for, its next departure and the
current price board before buying extras.

KANHERI CAVES
Kanheri Caves, within Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali East, Mumbai
Hours: Incredible India lists 7:30 am–5 pm Tuesday–Sunday, closed Monday; SGNP
activity wording differs. Confirm before departure and avoid Monday for a
first plan.
Price: Separate park, transfer and monument charges may apply. Current
official ticket total was not verified; check current ASI and park
arrangements.
Ages: Ages 6+
Tip: Explore a few meaningful spaces instead of chasing all 109 caves.

MANDAPESHWAR CAVES
Mandapeshwar Caves, Laxman Mhatre / Matre Road, Mount Poinsur area, Borivali
West, Mumbai
Hours: Incredible India lists sunrise–sunset. Verify access locally and visit
with comfortable daylight remaining.
Price: Current official admission tariff unverified; any donation or service
should be distinguished from an entrance charge.
Ages: Ages 6+
Tip: Look at one surviving sculptural panel and one structural feature, then
allow time for a child’s questions.

HALF-DAY PLANS

Borivali West garden and optional cave visit
1. Check Veer Savarkar Udyan’s gate, stroller rules and current play-space
condition.
2. Take a short loop and one child-chosen pause.
3. If everyone still wants a second stop, confirm Mandapeshwar access and make
the separate transfer; otherwise finish with food.

Timezone Sky City rainy-day family plan
1. Confirm Timezone Sky City’s branch and operating session.
2. Choose one shared game such as bowling or a suitable arcade activity before
loading credit.
3. Take a meal break and leave SGNP or Kanheri for a day with enough time for
their own logistics.
